Introducing Vince Stewart: Blending Tech and Public Safety for a Better Chicago

Hello, Public Safety Community!

I’m Vince Stewart, aka #PublicSafetyVince, with over 30 years of experience in the IT space navigating the complexities of the IT world with companies like Xfinity (formerly Comcast), Dell/EMC, and ETHS. My background has not only made me battle-tested in the IT space, earning VMware and EMC Proven Professional certifications, but it also laid the foundation for my passion project in public safety.

🔍 Journey into Public Safety:

My entry into the public safety realm was unforeseen, sparked by an invitation to a "Together We Can" meeting with the Chicago Police Department (CPD). This meeting was a melting pot of strategic discussions between the community and law enforcement on enhancing city safety, in this specific case the 3rd district under the watchful eye of Commander Watson and now Melvin Branch.

Moved by the dedication of this group that I witnessed, I founded the website www.chicagotogetherwecan.com, the go-to hub for all things related to public safety in Chicago. My aim was to create a cohesive platform that brings together various facets of community and law enforcement efforts. Look forward to a website reboot within the next 60 days.

📱 Innovation in Crisis:

Prior to my formal entree into the public safety space in Q4 of 2021, I developed a high tech solution to help in carjacking situations in response to the surge in carjackings post-pandemic. I developed a revolutionary carjacking mitigation tool – “Hey Siri.”  in response to this trend in carjackings. This solution can alert law enforcement and others at the speed of SMS, sending immediate alerts to 911 centers or Strategic Decision Support Centers (SDSC) with the carjacking location and a real-time vehicle tracking link. My anticipated partnership with SDSC teams or with enhanced 911 centers will be instrumental in integrating technology with public safety measures effectively. I also look to collaborate with the Illinois Vehicle Hijacking and Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention and Insurance Verification Council.

🏙 Vision and Goal:

Community safety is at the heart of everything I do. From strategic collaboration on the Nextdoor Neighbor app to advocating for neighborhood barriers like CulDeSacs and Flock cameras - now commonplace in 2024 - my drive is to keep our neighborhoods safe.

I aim to extend the reach of my vehicle tracking efforts by engaging with a broader audience through informative blog posts, webcasts, Linkedin post, podcasts and newsletters. My goal is for this platform to become a cornerstone in the community’s effort to protect itself, empowering residents and authorities alike with innovative tools and insights.
